President Obama looked to lend a helping hand to senior citizens, by getting Congress to approve of a payment play that will help them with the increase of their Social Security benefits in the upcoming year. While it may not be a lot on paper, every little bit helps considering the limited source of income most senior citizens have. The total amount of money the government would have to dish out will reach roughly $13 billion dollars, and come out to $250 a person.
ON pbs NEWHOUR, They spoke about how nurses will not be forced to take the flu shot this year. This decision was not based on a persons free right, but on the fact that there arent many vaccines to be given out. Vaccines are to be given to the people who need it the most. People who need the vaccines the most are pregnant women and small children. I do see the problem with nurses not getting the flu shot. Nurses are the one's helping people with their problems, and they too can spread the disease. The hospitals are places where disease can spread the most and people need to protect themselves. On the other hand, this is a new vaccine. No one really knows the precautions that come with it, and the problems that need to be worked out. For example, when the new iPhone came out, many people went out and bought it. There were many problems discovered , and it had to be recalled. Sometimes, its not always the best to get the first batch. Also, people have the right to NOT get the flu shot. its there right, and there really7 does not have to be a reason why someone does not want it. America is all about free choice.
On PBS news hour, they were talking about the recall for infant H1N1 flu vaccine, aka Swine Flu. I am honestly afraid to take this flu vaccine, and scared of my brother taking it too. I've heard 1 too many stories of it not being worth the risk. Yes, the media is known to blow things out of proportion, but one story was enough for me to be afraid to get the virus. To me, I think swine flu was created somewhere to get our minds off the war and such things, but I will not get into that. In America, if its not one thing its another. ITs hard to pay attention to all the problems going on, and people are always complaining. Anyways I hope they get this flu vaccine right, for the sake of mankind.

DISCLAIMER: I DID NOT SEE THIS MOVIE IN CLASS, I ACTUALLY WENT AND BOUGHT THE MOVIE. THANK YOU.
As I watched many people, innocent people, die I was very hurt. It is not fair that in times of war, innocent people die. But, on the other hand, how can you tell an innocent person from an evil one? The bombing that occured in Asia were horrible and should not occur anywhere else. I can only imagine how devastating that time period was, and not knowing if you were going to wake up to see another tomorrow. The man in this movie showed so much courage and strength, and i admired that deeply. If i were to lose my whole family basically, i would not want to live my self. It would be ard going through the rest of your life alone.

Sea of Poison
The Sea ofPoison starts of with a man and his pregnant wife living in a desserted part of Japan. The man has some type of breathing/lung problem, and hiswife tells him to visit the doctor in which he has not seen one in a long time. He goes to the Doctors Office and the doctor seems rude at first, telling him to get his papers first and then come back. Anyways, the book so far isn't that bad. Its off to a great start, as I'm learning about the couple and Dr. Suguro.Dr.Suguro seems to be the main character of the story, even though the story starts off with some other people. When Suguro stuck the needle in the husband with such great precision I thought at that moment, I want to be a great doctor just like him
12-7-09
The Sea Of Poison is about Suguro, just like I had imagined. Suguro is from the city of Fukuoko, and he is a resident I believe. Suguro seems like a timid guy, afraid to talk and stand up for himself. Suguro also seems to be a REAL doctor, caring about patients who really do not have the money to pay for care. The other doctors though, have no heart. I was happy to see Suguro try very hard to keep his first patient, the old lady alive.
12/14/09
Wow is all I have to say about this book. It was a great read. When the doctors covered up that poor womans death, I wonder if other doctors do the same thing. Suguro probably has such a burden from seeing alll those vivisections going onn He seems to be a very troubled guy and will probably be like that for the rest of his life. Although I am a proud American, I do not agree with the vivisections but it is expected. I know when my own country captures people, we torture them. So I cannot be bi-ist and get mad at the Japanese. The torturing in all is wrong and should not be done on either side.

I read the entire book and I became really upset at the end. I believe Anna did want to save Kate's life, she loved her sister. it was Kate's decision to die, and Anna just wanted to do what her sister really wanted. I understand why Kate didn't tell her mom she did not want to live anymore. Throughout the entire book it was as if Kate's mom had the most desire to keep her daughter alive, but Kate had already came to grips with death and had no will to live on,, especially when her boyfriend passes away. This book was a good read, and i wish Anna did not die. She was such a sweet little misunderstood girl, and I do not think her mother loved her right. Now her mother will never get the chance to find out how her daughter really was, because all to the mother anna was just "medicine" for her daughter. She meant nothing to her mother to me, and was only good for what she could give KAte.

feel BOTH isare EQUALLY needed,
On PBS News Hour, Obama was talking about health care reform at 2 am Oct 2 morning. I do not understand why new healthcare is so hard to pass. it seems as if the president doesn't have any power. does the government understand that people, kids, cant afford health care? people are dying from curable disease? its just taking so much time to help americans citizens. they are saying that the average family can not afford healthcare. People keep coming up with lies and saying " this will be a tax rise" ...to be a tax rise doesnt matter. People need this. THe more money you put into the government is the more you get out. i also believe the new healthcare plan concerning health insurance can not deny you insurance because of a previous event is great. we dont know when we're sick. We dont expect these things can happen, so why should somebody be punished for having a heart failure in the past. i also think that health care should be based on how you take care of yourself, if you smoke, how much you weigh etc. healthcare should give you 3 months to get into a healthy state, or they wont except you. This will cause a lot of Americans to get healthy, which then in turn reduces the amount of many diseases.

the courtcase has started and anna is still confusing me. she although is speaking up and thats what matters at least. also, as i learn more about annas lawyer, i just dont like him. he seems to only care about what the press thinks and his own personal gain from this case. he is not trying to help this little girl who desperately needs it in the right way. i also think that campbell and his relationship with Julia is sad because he does not know how to treat a woman as she should be treated. annas mother stll makes me angry but i am trying to understand that she is trying to save her daughters life. im trying to understand that but she makes herself seem like shes playing favorites in a way.

On PBS NEwsHour, THey were talking about how they have come a step closer to an HIV vaccine.the guy although said that even though theyve come a step closer to a vaccine, the scientist might not see it in his lifetime. it was shocking for him to say that, because during the entire segment, i believed that the vaccine was to appear this century. this vaccine is very much needed, contary to what some people believe. i was having a discussion with some people a couple of days ago, and one brought up that a cancer cure is a little bit more important, because many people are affected. I thought about it, and discovered, that HIV/ AiD patients rarely know if they have the disease. Often, when they do know, they dont tell anyone. so people might not know if theyre best friend has the disease or not. Cancer is something that is a problem within the body, you cant catch cancer. Cancer isnt anything to be ashamed about one youre diagnosed with it. On the other hand, when someone has caught HIV/AIDS it comes with the most embarressing conclusion, even if its not the way it happened. You had unprotected sex. This might not be the case, but tell your friend that you have HIV, then they assume youve mustve been doing something wrong. So i disagree with the statement that cancer cure is more needed. i feel BOTH is EQUALLY needed, you just dont know if your neighbor has it or not. HIV/AIDs is one of those things that you might never know a person has. The cure for this disease though, is desperately needed. People all around the world are affected, and this would help healthcare so much, because it would lower the amount of cases. everyone afriad of gettin tested will get tested, because there will be accure. this will be one of the biggest vaccines in history.

Anna is so confusing. i understand that shes only a child but she need to make up her mind. no one knows what she wants. i feel bad for jesse because he really feels useless. Jesse is taking his anger out the wrong ways but i do feel for him. The dad has no voice, but it seems to be he has a bond with anna. If Anna doesnt talk to her parents about what she really wants, things are just going to keep getting worse. also, the relationship between campbell and * is very interesting to me. ALthough its interesting, it has absolutely nothing to do with the book. its a beautiful love story, but i would like to hear a passage from Kate. I want to know how Kate is really feeling about this situation. Also Campbell needs to grow a heart, because he seems like a heartless bastard.

The first pages of My Sisters Keeper are very funny, and kind of sad as well. Sara seems to be fed up with her parents, and feels that she's only important to her family because of her cancer stricken sister. I understand her, because her parents barely notice her. Nobody ever comforts her when she's going through pain. Although her sisters condition is bad, her parents seem to pay no attention to the fact that she feels pain as well with all the needles and blood drawing. The funny part though was when her mother got served WHILE they were both in the hospital with her sick sister. Sara says oh shit and calls her brother to meet her and pick her up. i was confused though when her mom was comforting her sayin everything will be alright, and Sara seemed to not be serious about suing her parents. The book so far is good.
